Deep in the misty reaches of Algonquin Park, a local artist is found dead in Canoe Lake—eerily echoing the fate of famed painter Tom Thomson in 1917. Officially, it’s a tragic accident. Unofficially? The lake remembers.

Detectives Mick McCathie and Mack MacNeely are sent north to investigate—but as they delve into the mystery, they uncover more than just a death. A haunted canvas. Whispers in the woods. Shadowy figures that vanish in the mist. And a legacy soaked in silence.

The deeper they go, the more the lines blur between past and present, art and madness, justice and vengeance. Is someone using the legend of Tom Thomson to commit murder—or has the painter’s restless spirit returned to finish his final brushstroke?

As strange visions, buried secrets, and supernatural signs converge, Mick and Mack must uncover the truth before the lake claims another.

Some mysteries fade. Others are painted in shadow.
