The last time anyone saw Jane Winifred Smith was around 2 a.m. on August 9, 1975, just before she went to bed at her apartment on Charlotte Street in Sudbury. By 7:30 a.m., the 20-year-old Laurentian University social work student had vanished. ⁣

All of Jane’s belongings were in her apartment. There has been no trace of her since. ⁣
⁣
Jane Smith is 5’4” with blue eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she had visible gold teeth & short brown hair.⁣
⁣
On September 19, 1979, 32 year old Stanley Howatt of Sault Ste. Marie was charged with second degree murder for killing another Laurentian student named Donna Cragg. Known as the “Stab Ritual Killer,” Howatt had attacked Cragg in their shared apartment, stabbing her 40 times.⁣
⁣
Investigators suspect foul play in Smith’s disappearance. Could she be have been another victim of Stanley Howatt? ⁣
⁣
Somebody knows what happened to Jane.⁣
⁣
While there is little information in her case, some believe Smith may be among the many unidentified Jane Does found in the Northeastern U.S. in the 1970s. ⁣
⁣
Jane Smith’s disappearance has been unsolved for nearly 50 years.⁣
